Helping Every Child Read, Listen, and Dream With a Book of Their Own
Voice of Books does more than simply deliver books.
We help children hold books written in their own languages, listen to stories told through warm human voices, and discover their lives and cultures in the illustrations.
By connecting printed books, technology, youth voices, and the art of African artists, we create meaningful reading experiences for children in communities with limited access to books.

Creating and Distributing Swahili Books
JIHADHARI NA MBU! Beware of Mosquitoes!
|
In partnership with Books International, Voice of Books created a Swahili picture book that teaches children how to prevent malaria through the story of Uma and the mosquitoes.
We distributed 500 copies to children at Tumbi Primary School in Tanzania--one book for every child. For many, it was the first book they had ever owned. The children repeatedly asked: “Can I really keep this book?” Yes, they could. Through a playful story and colorful illustrations, the children gained practical knowledge, imagination, and the joy of owning a book. |
"If you’re writing a medium or long section of text, break it up with more than one paragraph for better readability.”
