Voice of Calling is a nonprofit organization of young computer scientists established in 2018 to help those in need of computer science education. Our primary purpose is to provide both online and offline training in computer software and hardware for those with limited access to such resources, while also engaging in research and application development. No matter what the calling may be—whether coding, robotics, or simply serving those in need—we strive to give our best to make not only our community a better place, but the world as a whole. Our identity is not defined merely by being computer scientists ready to teach or give; rather, it is rooted in our purpose to help people. Building on this foundation, Voice of Calling is dedicated to creating impactful solutions and programs that bridge the digital divide, support underrepresented communities, and inspire the next generation of innovators. To showcase these efforts, we present our work in two categories: Projects (technology-driven solutions) and Initiatives (educational and community-focused programs).
Projects Innovative systems and platforms designed to address global challenges in education, healthcare, and accessibility. SomaBox Project Delivering books, tablets, and computers to schools and kindergartens in Tanzania and Kenya to expand access to digital learning. AtaxiaV A rehabilitation system in development that provides support and hope for patients battling the rare and incurable disease Ataxia. SARA-Q / CeMoQu A cloud-based platform that administers the Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA), making evaluations more accurate, quantitative, and capable of capturing broader data. Voice of Book Platform A human-centered audiobook platform where real voices—not AI—bring stories to life, ensuring accessibility for children and communities. |
InitiativesEducational and social programs designed to empower students, teachers, and communities across the globe. Future of Rwanda AI and ICT education programs supporting Rwandan schools and teachers. Future of Tanzania A computer programming education initiative for talented students at Tanzania Science High School. Cyinno Hacks (Cyber Innovation Hackathon) A global tech challenge connecting students from Africa and the U.S. to solve real-world problems through innovation. ACTS (AI Campaign for Technology & Society) Bringing AI education to 42 secondary schools in the Katavi Region, Tanzania. Showdown An online coding competition for U.S. students in Grades 1–8, featuring Scratch, Python, and algorithmic problem-solving. Voice of Dream A coding and robotics camp that enriches the lives of children in foster care, low-income families, and those on the autism spectrum in the United States. Voice of Coding The core initiative of Voice of Calling, providing structured programming education in Python, Scratch, and Machine Learning for students in Grades 1–7 worldwide. The program is conducted continuously with four quarterly sessions each year. |
Meeting
Every Saturday at 6:30 PM (PT), we meet on Zoom.
We began as an in-person group, but after the pandemic, more members joined from across the United States and Korea, so we transitioned to an online format. We gather consistently to discuss and explore how we can better serve others and make a greater impact.
