FREE Online Coding Class

A free coding camp was erected for children in quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a nutshell, our talented staff taught coding classes for a week to 1st-7th graders. To our disbelief, 680students were registered which resulted in 29 Voice of Calling teachers volunteering.
Friday, weekend, and sometimes every day our teachers and the ambitious students came hand in hand to explore the fascinating world of computer science.
Throughout the day, hour-long classes took place, each one targeting a different skill level and programming topic. Some students took one class a day and others took up to four! Some students would learn on their own and other students brought along their parents for the coding adventures. Each hour-long class was filled with laughter, collaboration, and focus, and I strongly believe both parties prospered off of each other.
One student had difficulties reading and speaking over the Zoom call. Luckily for him, his teacher did not give up on him but continued to thoroughly teach him through free private lessons. It did not come easy but the teacher, the student, and his mother refused to give up. His mother, who watched the child's progression for 5 days, was so impressed that they praised her as the most patient and skillful teacher she has ever met.
But again, our teachers did not do all the extra work to receive praise, instead, they genuinely did it to teach young students the wonders of coding.
